Empowering Communities Through Safe, Sustainable Water Solutions

For families, especially women and children, the daily search for water takes away precious time and energy. By supporting safe, reliable water access, you help communities reclaim time for education, work, and building brighter futures.

Why This Project Matters

01

Empowering Communities through Sustainable Water

For families, especially women and children, the daily search for water takes away precious time and energy. Piped water access frees up hours each day for education, work, and caregiving, empowering communities and reducing poverty cycles

02

Protecting Health and Saving Lives

Unsafe surface water exposes families to cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Clean piped water reduces disease and cuts smoke exposure from boiling water with firewood, preventing respiratory illnesses

03

Restoring Land and Supporting Farmers

Reliable water strengthens Solaxy’s Kenya AgroCarbon Initiative, boosting tree seedling survival, supporting agroforestry, and restoring degraded landscapes. It also enhances food security and protects biodiversity

Project Overview

Solaxy Group, in partnership with the government of Kenya and women’s groups, is implementing the Mbeere South Last Mile Water Connectivity Project in Embu County, Kenya. Building on government-funded Phase I infrastructure at Kamburu Dam, this initiative will deliver safe, solar-powered piped water directly to 5,000 households — reaching more than 40,000 people across Mavuria and Mbeti South ward

Phase I

(Government of Kenya): 10,000 m³/day treatment plant, solar pumping station, and 12.2 km of trunk pipeline.

Phase II (Solaxy)

139 km of downstream distribution network, metered household connections, and public access points.

Community Reach:

Schools, health centers, and households in rural zones that currently rely on unsafe sources.

Carbon Finance

Project funded through forward sales of carbon credits under Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG).

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The project is directly aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda, advancing:

Good Health and Well-Being

reducing waterborne disease

Gender Equality

reducing unpaid domestic labor and empowering women in governance

Clean Water and Sanitation

piped safe water to households and institutions

Climate Action

verified emission reductions through carbon finance

Community-Led, Climate-Financed

Harnessing carbon finance and local leadership to deliver lasting water access.

Public–Private Partnership:

Kenya government-funded Phase I built core infrastructure, while Solaxy is completing Phase II through carbon credit financing.

Equitable Impact:

Community participation, women’s leadership, and reinvestment of carbon revenues ensure sustainable and inclusive benefits.
